The Thousand Sons were the XV Legion of the original twenty Space Marine Legions before turning traitor after their Primarch Magnus the Red. After the Horus Heresy they relocated to Sortiarius, the Planet of Sorcerers in the Eye of Terror, and dedicated themselves to the Chaos God of change, Tzeentch. For a time following the Heresy Tzeentch protected the Thousand Sons from the corruption and mutation that most of the other Traitor Legions fell slave to. However, Tzeentch, known to be a fickle god, eventually lost interest and allowed the Legion to suffer the same fate as their traitorous brethren simply for his amusement.
The Thousand Sons started to suffer from mutation and de-evolution, seemingly at the whim of their patron-God. Horrified at this development, their chief sorcerer, Ahriman, cast a powerful spell designed to render the Thousand Sons immune to the warping effects of Chaos. The spell succeeded in this goal, but had a devastating unforeseen consequence, his fellow marines were transformed into dust-sealed within their armour. Now, most of the sons of Magnus are little more than mystically animated suits of armour, barely being capable of sentient thought without the guidance of a nearby Sorcerer.
Get ready to wander across the galaxy for the next unsuspecting victim against the formidable Zadophon the Soul Eater and his forces.

The Eldar are a technologically advanced humanoid race who once dominated the Galaxy. At the height of their power, their empire spanned and dominated a significant portion of the galaxy and they were secure in their prosperity.
Freed from the need for manual labour the Eldar grew decadent. They began to explore all the sensations their heightened senses and psychic mastery could offer, becoming more and more debased in their tastes, exploring and satiating any and all desires they could conceive. It was this that would lead to their Fall. The psychic echo of their vices coalesced in the warp and in a single night obliterated their entire empire as the chaos god Slaanesh was born. All Eldar souls situated on their homeworlds and inner colonies were absorbed, tearing a gouge in the fabric of real space that is today known as the Eye of Terror.
Prior to the Fall a number of Eldar fled, recognising the degradation of their people. The earliest to leave were the Exodites, those Eldar who shunned all the decadent trappings of their society to live a simpler life. As the debasement of Eldar society continued more Eldar left, taking to space and the Craftworlds - vast ships that would amalgamate and become cities. These are the Craftworld Eldar.
The Craftworld Eldar are the last of the Eldar as they were at the height of their power before the cults of excess rose to prominence. To protect themselves from the lure of Slaanesh the Craftworld Eldar's lives follow a set of rigid Paths, with the Path of the warrior or the seer being the path most commonly encountered by alien races. On their breast, each Craftworld Eldar wears a spirit stone that will trap their soul upon death so that it may be protected from Slaanesh's ravenous hunger.
Although the Eldar are a dying race they are still a formidable foe - their superior technology, training and tactics make them a match for any enemy force, no matter their numbers.

The countless billions of human soldiers who form the ranks of the Astra Militarum defend the Imperium of Man from swarms of enemies bent on its destruction. Despite all that is set against them, the Imperial Guard, as they are otherwise known, use deadly war machines and rely on the courage of their guardsmen to shield humanity.
The primary fighting force of the Imperium, the Astra Militarum is so vast that no one can accurately place a count on the number of Guardsmen filling its ranks. The lists of new recruits and toll of casualties can run into the millions in a single day. It is believed that there must be many billions of Guardsmen, divided into millions of regiments. These overpowering numbers provide the Guard with its main advantage - their ability to deploy attacks in seemingly endless influxes across battle-zones. Charging forth under the cover of massive barrages and delivering massed Lasgun volleys, in the Guard the individual Human soldier may appear a lost thing, almost forgotten. Yet the actions of these anonymous soldiers daily decide the fate of worlds.

The Leagues of Votann are the collective confederations of the species of squat but powerfully-built Abhuman clones who refer to themselves as the Kin. The Kin are an advanced, starfaring race who possess highly advanced technology and live amid the extreme environments that mark the resource-rich worlds of the galactic core.
Few intelligent species in the galaxy are as redoubtable, courageous or determined as the Kin who comprise the Leagues of Votann. Nor are many as ruthless when it comes to the risk-and-reward calculus of war. To those they fight alongside or trade with, the Kin are invaluable allies. However, those they deem a risk to their people's survival they destroy with the same relentless rigour that the Kin apply to harvesting black hole accretion discs, manufacturing their incredible technologies or, indeed, anything else they set their minds to.
Led by Vynn Bane-Slayer, this group consists of hard-hitting infantry ready to take on the enemies of the Leagues of Votaan.

A dominion as vast as the Imperium requires all kinds of agencies to keep it running, from the fastidious scribes and accountants of the Adeptus Administratum to the void-faring Imperial Navy. Most of these organisations maintain their own cadres of professional troops for when things get dicey on their own patch. These are the Imperial Agents, a disparate collection of house troops, irregulars, and specialist operatives sometimes seconded to other parts of the Imperial war machine when their expertise may prove useful.

Blood Angels were the ninth Legion to be formed from the original twenty Space Marine Legions created by the Emperor. They proudly served under their Primarch, Sanguinius, before his death, and are particularly well known for their bloodthirsty nature in battle. Being one of the oldest and most long-lived chapters, the Sons of Sanguinius have developed their own refined aesthetic that differs from the standard Marine appearance.
The Blood Angel geed-seed is still capable of producing all nineteen organ implants required for the transformation of a normal man into a Space Marine. It also has a unique quirk of vastly extending the lifespan of the Space Marines in its gene-line, allowing Marines to live for more than a millennium. Though this geed-seed appears to therefore be superior it has a hidden, dreadful flaw, making the battle-brothers of the Blood Angels susceptible to the Black Rage and the Red Thirst.
The Black Rage occurs when a Blood Angel succumbs to the psychic imprint left by Sanguinius's death and is driven into insanity. The second genetic flaw, the Red Thirst, causes warriors to suffer an unnatural bloodlust, instilling them with a savage thirst for the blood of their enemies. To allow battle-brothers now affected by these genetic flaws to continue their service they are formed into a unique unit known as the Death Company.
